Communication and participatory methods

Course contents: This course is designed to provide an opportunity to improve communication skills and deepen the learning about participatory methods in rural development work.

Topics include:

  • Communication theory
  • Practical facilitation skills: theory and practice
  • Participatory Methods and Action Research

Who should participate in this course: Researchers & Students (Natural and Human Sciences) with a keen interest to improve their facilitation skills.

Facilitation skills in community based processes

July 2010

Course contents: This course is designed to improve and explore ways of interaction in community based processes. The course will included both: Facilitation theory and practice with a special focus on facilitating commuity process in a participatory way.

Topics include:

  • Ways of increasing resilience in a participatory way
  • Tools for community processes in climate change adaptation
  • Adaptation basics
  • Integration of science and local knowledge

Community based adaptation to climate change

October 2010

Course contents: This course is designed to provide an opportunity to explore ways to engage on community based adaptation activities. The course will explore different ways of engaging in participatory processes to increase resilience to climate change and will allow participants to share their experiences from the field.

  • Tools for community processes in climate change adaptation
  • Adaptation basics
