Course contents: This course is designed to provide
an opportunity to natural and human scientist to broaden their skills
base so as to be able to better engage in collaborative scientific
research programmes and share scientific results with other scientists
and local resource users. A selection of appropriate participatory
methods will be presented. Communication and facilitation skills
are crucial for effective interdisciplinary work and for the implementation
of participatory methods and will therefore be included in the course.
Topics include:
- Participatory Methods
- Facilitation and communication
- Perceptions and realities
- Process Design: Planning and implementing interactions with
local communities
- Integration of science and local knowledge
